What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel uses a skin acid to lift away the dull top layer, for skin that looks brighter and smoother.
We choose the type and strength of peel for your skin on the day, after a skin check. We explain which one suits you, and what your skin will do in the days after.
Your treatment is carried out by Dr Crown, our aesthetic practitioner. We check your health first, and only go ahead if the treatment suits you.

Preparation & aftercare
Prep & aftercare
Before your visit
- Tell us about your health, any medication and any allergies.
- Stop retinol and exfoliating acids in the days before, unless we advise otherwise.
- Avoid sunburn and waxing on the area before your peel.
- Let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After your visit
- Your skin may feel tight, look pink or flake for a few days. Your practitioner will explain what to expect.
- Do not pick or peel flaking skin. Let it come away on its own.
- Wear SPF every day and keep out of strong sun.
- Contact us straight away if you notice anything unusual. If you cannot reach us and you are worried, call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency.

Who carries out the treatment?
Dr Crown, our aesthetic practitioner. We check your skin and your health before any peel.
Will my skin peel?
It depends on the peel. Some leave little or no visible peeling; others cause flaking for a few days. We tell you what to expect before we start.
When can I wear make-up again?
Your practitioner will tell you on the day, based on the peel you have.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. Chemical peels at SHOW are for over-18s only.
